Celebrations and Awards

July 2018 Edition

It's awards season at Mountbatten with another group of London (August 2017) trainees celebrating the completion of their Program; whilst in Bangkok the MBA students have celebrated their graduation as well. Congratulations to them all for their hard work and dedication.

Other celebrations include a Mountbatten wedding; plus 3 other alumni being nominated or bestowed awards in their professional lives.

Mountbatten Wedding

We are delighted to announce a Mountbatten Wedding, which took place on 9th March in sunny Dubai. Thomas Philip (Tom) and Bina Ghose were both part of New York September 2009 intake, and currently live in Dubai. The ceremony was held at The Palace, which overlooks the Burj Khalifa and the dancing fountains, and their reception was at the One and Only, The Palm.

Bina said that they were "delighted so many of our close Mountbatten friends could join us. We wouldn't even have met if it wasn't for the amazing Mountbatten Program."

Alumni guests included Juggy Johal (best man), Sally Thomas, Phil Francis, Judi Funston, Hugo Gouvras, Jemini Desai, Carly Chadwick, Claire Wheaton, Carl Raynor, Baldip Dhillon, Nardeep Sehra and Patrick Osadebe.

Yankee Stadium

Mountbatten Night at Yankee Stadium was a great success! NYCFC hosted our Mountbatten community, including trainees, host organizations, alumni, staff, family & friends for a great game at Yankee Stadium as well as a Q&A panel on the Business of Soccer. Mountbatten Program CEO, Richard Sexton, was the moderator for a discussion between Jonathan Stemp (Chief Infrastructure Officer at Manchester City Football Club) and David Bruce (VP of Brand & Integrated Marketing for Major League Soccer). They shared their insights on bringing soccer/football to the US market, the rising popularity of the game, the challenges they face, and the World Cup in 2026. The evening was topped off with a victory for NYCFC over Montreal, 3-0!

Alum
of the Month

Sindy Leung
London, March 2012

"Be the change you want to see" is a motto that inspires me. When I can see how I can make a difference, I find it hard to sit back. Refugees in Hong Kong are not allowed to work or go to school and they are given HKD 2000 (USD 250) per month to live on. So a friend and I set up a weekend school for these refugees and other under-privileged ethnic minorities... We provide them with opportunities that everyone should be entitled to, which is a step to helping them escape inter-generational poverty.
